Spring '17 Denim Collection

We here at FREEWHEELER have only had two official seasons or photoshoots (Summer 17 being the next official drop!). We displayed a custom piece of denim in our first photoshoot, and got some amazing positive feedback. With destroyed denim being a huge trend this spring and summer, we thought why not release some vintage custom designed and destroyed denim pieces made by FREEWHEELER.

We decided to launch our denim collection exclusively at the local restaurant, Hang Over Easy during our collaborative March Madness Event.  We also released a couple new styles of FREEWHEELER garments for men and women to supplement the new denim collection.

The whole idea behind the denim was to alter and destroy it in a way that you can't get anywhere else. We are influenced by the world and pop culture around us, and for this year's denim collection, it was based heavily off of looks we love from music videos.  For example, our most sought after piece from the collection was a light blue, high waist, denim mini skirt shown below.  This piece was inspired by the "Work" music video by Rihanna where she pairs it with a sheer crop top.

Another popular piece was a pair of denim shorts inspired by Lady Gaga's music video "Telephone" featuring Beyonce.  In this video, one of Queen B's outfits was a pair of barely-there destroyed denim shorts by designers Franc Fernandez and Oscar Olima where it was paired with a military style blazer by Jean-Charles De Castelbajac. Although ours are slightly different, we tried to incorporate elements from Beyonce's outfit to make the FREEWHEELER piece.  Our overly destroyed version features oversized gold safety pins that give it that element of sequins and exposed hardware.

Along with the two pieces shown above, we released distressed denim tops, button ups, pants, skirts and some other style of cut-offs. We still have some pieces left and they will be featured at the next March Madness Event at Hang Over Easy on April 3rd from 6-10pm! A huge thank you to everyone that came out to support us! And if you missed the first event, come on out and grab a piece before its gone!
